Land Release Operations Have Begun under the EU CASSIA Programme

14.05.2026

Since April 10, the “Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise” SNCO and the United Nations Development Programme have been implementing the “European Union Support to Clearance Action for the Safety and Security in Explosive Ordnance Affected Communities in Armenia” (EU CASSIA) project.

Within the framework of the project, land release operations are planned to be carried out in the Syunik, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, and Tavush regions of the Republic of Armenia in 2026.

To ensure the effective implementation of the project, nine deminers participated in training courses conducted by the “Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise” SNCO from April 15 to 30. After successfully passing the professional examination, they joined the project implementation team, completing the field operations personnel.

The presence of mines and explosive remnants of war has serious humanitarian and socio-economic consequences. Clearance operations are essential for restoring security, ensuring the free movement of people, and contributing to the economic recovery of affected communities. Our mission is to provide a safe environment and support the sustainable development of affected populations.
