From 22 to 24 April 2026 the delegation of the “Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise” SNCO participated in the 29th International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors and UN Advisers (NDM-UN29) organized by the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) Under the theme “One Humanity”.
Mine action sector current issues, existing challenges and development prospects were discussed during the meeting. Special attention was paid to the new framework for land release, the application of international standards, the enhancement of the role of technology and financing, as well as the strengthening of national capacities.
Within the framework of the event, the delegation had working meetings with Tobias Privitelli, the Director of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), Michael Tirre, the Program Manager of the “Europe Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement” of the U.S. Department, Frances Smith, the Researcher for Mine Action Review, as well as with other international partners. Upcoming projects, areas of technical assistance, and issues of organizing professional training courses were discussed.
Participation provided an important opportunity to expand international cooperation, enhance professional ties, and introduce international best practices in the field of mine action in Armenia.
